As many of you will be aware, Boss Cabins has gone to great lengths over the years to cement its reputation as the UK’s leading welfare cabin manufacturer.
We have poured enormous amounts of money, time and effort into creating products that incorporate innovative and often patented solutions that have ensured that our cabins are now the most sustainable and respected in the marketplace.
As a result, we feel completely justified in protecting our intellectual property rights wherever they are infringed by others who seek to emulate our success by copying features that we have worked tirelessly to develop.
Therefore, we are pleased to announce the successful conclusion to our recent legal action taken against Irish cabin manufacturer CabinTec. The company, a relatively recent entrant to the welfare markets based in County Tyrone, has agreed to a settlement that sees them exiting the mobile welfare market completely, rather than facing the risk of punitive damages that would have arisen had court proceedings continued.
Boss Cabins Managing Director James Kearsey said: “We are not the market leaders in the welfare industry by accident. We have invested a huge amount of time, effort and money to develop products that put us head and shoulders in front of other manufacturers.
“Although it is flattering that other manufacturers feel the need to copy our products in order to be competitive, you will fully appreciate that we cannot allow this to happen.”
CabinTec’s directors have issued a statement on their website apologising for the damages that these infringements have caused to Boss Cabins. Furthermore, CabinTec’s Managing Director Barry Kerr stated that he and his fellow shareholders fully understood and appreciated that Boss Cabins had invested considerable time and cost in developing their market leading product range and that Boss Cabins’ court filing was a necessary step to protect this significant investment.
