Boss Cabins donates welfare units to help Ukranian refugee crisis - Boss Cabins - We Mean Business

When we saw the horrific and heartbreaking events unfolding in Ukraine, like most people we wanted to know what we could do to offer practical help to all those people suffering and displaced by the war.

After discussions with the Polish embassy, our Head of Customer Experience Sarah Butcher came up with a plan, wholeheartedly endorsed by our Chairman Duncan Wordsworth, to donate 2 x 20ft welfare cabins to the charities working on the frontline at the Polish/Ukraine border supporting the 1000s of refugees fleeing their homes.

We are delighted to announce that these cabins are now completed and will be setting off to Poland next Friday 8th April. Transport is being arranged and also provided for free by Montgomery Distribution, who have worked tirelessly since war broke out delivering humanitarian aid to the Ukranian border. The company’s MD Steven McBride has also been an invaluable source of information to us about what is most needed out there and has put us in touch with the Polish charity to which we will be donating the cabins.

The cabins will be sent by the charity to the areas most in need and will act as check points, aid stations and support units. The cabins have been built and kitted out to our usual spec so will provide a warm comfortable space with full welfare and toilet facilities. In addition we have tried to consider what may occur in crisis conditions so have added solar panels to help provide more functionality if fuel runs short.

In addition to the welfare units, Boss Cabins’ employees with the support of local people will be filling the cabins with donated medical supplies, blankets and other sanitation items that the charities have said are most needed.

Sarah Butcher, Boss Cabins Head of Customer Experience, explains what being able to help has meant to her and the team at Boss Cabins’ factory: “From the moment we heard and saw the terrifying scenes in the Ukraine we knew we had to do something to help, it’s truly heartbreaking.

“We contacted the Polish Embassy to find out how we could best help and they put us in touch with charities on the frontline Polish/Ukraine border who said these cabins will help their work immeasurably.

“We have had a phenomenal response from our factory workers who have pulled together to push this project through, working flat out to get them done.

“Boss Cabins will support the Ukraine and its people for as long as necessary and with the support of my incredible team here at Boss Cabins, we will continue speaking to local Polish/ Ukranian charities and do all we can to help.”

Boss Cabins Chairman, Duncan Wordsworth, added: “Speaking both for the company and for myself personally, I have extreme sympathy with the people of Ukraine whose lives have been irreversibly damaged by this war.

“I know this is just a tiny drop in the face of the huge crisis engulfing these people, but I hope that by donating these cabins we will go some small way to help alleviate their suffering.

“I have been moved by the commitment all our staff have shown to this initiative and am extremely proud of the efforts they have made to bring it to fruition”.

As a company, we want to take this opportunity to thank our staff who have been amazing in supporting this project, working extra hours and weekends to get the cabins built and also to thank personally Sarah Butcher who has been the driving impetus behind it. We are all grateful to have this opportunity to be able to help the people of Ukraine in whatever way we can.

If you would like to donate items to be sent with the Boss welfare units to Ukraine, there is a drop – off point at the Boss Cabins factory at BCS House, Pinfold Road, Bourne PE10 9HT. Please ask for Tammy Ringland or Steve Hennessey at the main entrance. The cut-off time for donations is 12pm midday on Thursday 7th April.
